Many people suffer from seasonal allergies such as hay fever. Allergies to pollen and certain weeds is also common. In order to lessen the symptoms caused by allergens it is best to try to avoid exposure to them. That is not always possible to do, of course, so knowing a few tips on the best treatments for an allergy can help.

If an individual has only miner symptoms from allergies then often times medications that can be purchased over the counter will help lessen the symptoms. There are a wide variety of allergy medications available without a prescription. Most contain an antihistamine to help keep the sinuses dry. Although nose sprays often leave an unpleasant taste in the mouth, they can work well to reduce allergy symptoms.

Some individuals that suffer from more severe allergy symptoms may need to seek a physicians advise on which way is best to treat their symptoms. Most will normally be referred to an Allergist, where they may have to undergo allergy skin prick tests to find out exactly what they are allergic to.
